GeoCricket Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2, 2026
Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how the GeoCricket website and game ("the Service") handle your data. GeoCricket is a daily cricket geography game: you tap the map to guess where cricket moments happened.
The Service may contain links to external websites that are not operated by us. We have no control over the content and practices of these sites and cannot accept responsibility for their respective privacy policies.
Information We Collect
The Service does not ask for your name, email address, or any other personally identifiable information. When you first play, the Service automatically creates an anonymous account for you — no sign-up or login needed.
Your anonymous account stores: your chosen display name, device timezone, browser and device type, your guesses and scores, daily totals, play streaks, and leaderboard entries in our backend database. This data is used solely to operate the game — saving your progress, showing scorecards, streaks, and leaderboards.
We do not use analytics, advertising trackers, or any third-party SDKs that collect personal information. We do not sell, trade, or rent any data to third parties.
Anonymous Accounts & Deletion
Your account has no password and is linked to your browser session. You may set a display name (letters, numbers, and spaces only) or keep playing with an auto-generated guest label.
Guest labels never appear on the leaderboard — only players who set a display name are listed.
You may request deletion of your anonymous account from the profile page. If you do not visit the Service for 30 days in a row, your anonymous account details are deleted automatically.
Local Storage & Game Data
Your browser keeps local copies to make the game fast and playable with brief connection drops:
- Round progress and state (guesses, per-ball runs, total score)
- Preferences (distance units)
- Short-lived copies of the leaderboard and your streak
Third-Party Services
The Service is served by a hosting provider, which may process limited technical information (such as your IP address) as necessary to deliver the pages, in accordance with its own privacy policy.
Map tiles are loaded from a third-party map tile provider; tile requests may expose standard technical details (such as your IP address) to that provider under its own policy.
If the game is distributed through third-party app stores in the future, those stores may collect their own data in accordance with their own policies.
Data Security
Your scores are validated and stored server-side — the app never trusts scores computed on your device. Access to other players' data is limited to what the public leaderboard shows: rank, display name, and total. Clearing your browser's site data erases your local copies, and requesting account deletion removes your server-side profile and scores.
User's Commitment
Users agree to use the Service responsibly. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Not using the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.
- Not attempting to tamper with, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to the Service.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
